nursery inspiration

Lately, I've really had a new sense of urgency to prepare the nursery.  I just woke up a few weeks needing to be ready for this kid. Nesting is settling in, or taking over, or something... I really want the room to be simple and bright, but still colorful enough that it works with the white walls in the baby's room.  While I haven't narrowed it down to one look, here are a few nurseries that have inspired me.

I love the tepee.   What a fun reading nook! The rug adds coziness and the artwork is minimal but still fun. (Source: A Cup of Jo)

This room is so fun and electic.  There is a lot going on, but it isn't overwhelming. It's vintage and whimsical, but all the toys and knick knacks still make it very much a kid's room. (Source: Turbulences-Deco)

This gender neutral room is gorgeous.  Perfect for fraternal twins.  I really love the couch too... what a darling little spot to snuggle up with your baby. (Source: Chic Cheap Nursery)

This is my favorite.  I love the bold yellow and white mixed with navy... Great for the two little boys that share this room.  But, adding coral accents rather than navy would make the palate a little more feminine. Seems like a solid choice either way. (Source: A Cup of Jo)

See why I'm having trouble narrowing things down? (For more where this came from, be sure to check out my Oh Baby! board on Pinterest...)

Spring Cleaning Checklist

When I was a teenager, one of my side jobs was cleaning houses a few times a month.  One lady who I cleaned for taught me to clean everything from top to bottom.  It revolutionized the way I approach housework.  A little common sense goes a long way, right? But, seriously knock the dust onto the floor then vacuum. All that to say, I still employ her advice today when I clean my own little house, especially when I deep clean.  Click here for my spring cleaning checklist.  It's long, but worth it.  It covers all the basics and leaves your house fresh and ready for the new season. Happy Cleaning!

chevron message board

Notes are just so cheerful.  Waking up to find a new text, a napkin covered in scribbles in your lunch, a quick email to brighten up your work day... I could go on and one.  Notes are just one of my favorite things. So, I made this... It hangs over my little desk and I love spotting a new note on there after Jason's left for work. And, I love leaving one for him.

Now, I'm not the craftiest, but this is a craft I can get behind. So easy to make! I spotted it on my friend, Kaitlin's blog.  She made it for her hubby on her 1st anniversary.  (Um, how cute is that?) The design, however, belongs to Sarah @ Life {Sweet} Life.

I decided to add a photo booth photo we had made a few days after we were engaged to the background to personalize it a bit.  Sorry about the sloppy handwriting... and the mis-spelling... ek!
