sassy water

Feeling sassy? I am.
I found this brilliant, brilliant idea on Sitno Seckanovia via my favorite website ever.... drumroll please... Pinterest! How did I ever survive without it? A place to ooooh and awww over hundreds of mind-boggling ideas... A place to bookmark and easily organize anything I stumble across online... AHHHHHHH!!!
Let's just say I spend way too much time on there.
Anyways... sassy water. (Don't you love the name?) Rumored to help you maintain a flat belly, lemon and water fuse overnight to create a natural detox, helping to flush impurities out of your system. The cucumber lends a cool, refreshing flavor while the mint gives it a bit of a snap. The original recipe had fresh ginger, but I didn't have any and I still really liked the result.

I like to make a batch and divide it among a few ball jars so I can take it to work or with me on errands. Go ahead! Make it! Embrace your inner sassiness.

Update - September 19, 2012
A lot of you have asked about how I use Sassy Water and the results that I see. So here is a bit more about how I use it each week. I drink about 3 batches a week and I make it in a gallon pitcher. You could make more... The recipe didn't orginate on a SSL and I've read online that some folks drink a gallon a day and are fine. I switch the fruit every time I make a new batch.
I combine it with a low carb/high protein diet and 3-4 exercise routines a week, so I feel like it does help me lose weight but it doesn't stand alone. Personally, I can tell a difference when I am drinking it... I feel more hydrated and I retain less water weight. Also, after a weekend when I blow off my diet, I feel back to normal faster if I am drinking sassy water.
I never use it to replace meals, so please consult a doctor first if you are planning on doing that. Also, some of you have asked me how it affects medication. Again, that would be a question for your doctor. I am not a doctor and this is not medical advice. Just my personal experience. :)

Hi. Love this post! Just a comment though about using the old zinc lids for mason jars. It's not recommended to use them for food storage. I have use mason jars for storage and even infusions and I have found the Quattro Stagioni lids fit them perfectly. I don't work for them and I'm not here promoting that particular brand, it's just that is what I have found that fits and is food safe. Just a suggestion!
how many time did the lemons , cucumber and the fresh mint last ? when I have to change this ingredients ?
I made some of this, I think I put too much cucumber in it though, it still tasted good. What I did was I bought some fresh ginger, and grated some in there and mixed it around with it. My husband really liked it!
I've been wanting to try this! Your beautiful photos make trying this irresistible! It's just so pretty!
The recipes are quite interesting-does anyone have a recipe for flavored water other than using citrus? i ask because for many of us, this is VERY hard on your teeth. i have been a fan of lime water for years, but my dentist told me it adds to your tooth "sensitivity" and also effects the enamel. i am a "senior" so this has really damaged my teeth-just be wise when drinking this-too much is a bad thing.
Where did you get the lid on your Mason jar? I haven't seen one like it before.
Ever since finding this on pintrest I make this weekly and enjoy it every morning! Thanks for sharing!!! Its super refreshing and makes drinking something other than soda easier ;) Thanks again!
PLEASE do not drink a lot of this all at once, Please Just Trust Me, I speak from experience!
I keep my ginger in the freezer, so it doesn't go to waste. It also makes it easier to grate! (Bonus!)
I got this recipe from "The Flat Belly Diet" book
@Elaine - I didn't realize that is where it originated. I did post my source in the recipe. Thanks!
I cannot wait to try this! I'm thinking of trying it for a 3 day water fast - but because it will be my first actual detox, I think I'm going to drink a Special K shake in the evenings.
Thanks for the great recipe! I just linked to it from my site! I wrote a list of ways to unblock the second or water chakra!
I AM DEFINATELY GOING TO TRY THIS ONE. I AM GOING ON A CRUISE IN FEBRUARY 2013 AND GETTING MARRIED IN MARCH 2013 AND I HAVE TO TAKE MY DRESS FOR ALTERING IN OCTOBER SO I NEED ALL THE HELP I CAN GET.
Looks nice in the mason jar! :) I grow mint in my garden too - so convenient!
My question is how often can you get away with drinking this?
@Machelle - Most of the other sites I looked at recommend one pitcher a day! That's what I shoot for.
I am confused, do you change out the cucs lemon and mint, each time the pitcher is empty of water?
Thanks!
I didn't have mints or ginger so I just made it with only lemons and cucumber. I hope it'll give the same results or something lol. I made it last night and just took a sip 2 seconds ago and omg its delicious!! Why haven't I thought about this a long time ago??
This may be a dumb question, but do you juice the lemons into the water, or just slice and soak?
How many a day do you drink? or can you drink? or is there no rules???
